International Day for Peace/ World Peace Day

World Peace Day, also known as the International Day of Peace, was first observed at the United Nations headquarters on September 21, 1982 following the unanimous passage by the UN Assembly of resolution 36/67PDF document intended "to devote a specific time to concentrate the efforts of the United Nations and its Member States, as well as of the whole of mankind, to promoting the ideals of Peace and to giving positive evidence of their commitment to peace in all viable ways."
