World Day of Social Justice

First observed in 2009, the United Nations' (UN) World Day of Social Justice was established to build awareness about the link between social justice and poverty reduction, as well as encourage member countries to adopt policies that promote full employment and social integration (including gender equity).

Member states are asked to promote events and national activities that promote the objectives of the 2000 World Summit for Development, during which member countries affirmed that the fundamental values for all societies are social justice, equality and equity.
