Join the Growing Movement to Give Gifts That Give Back

This holiday season join the growing number of people who will be opting for gifts that give back to our community or our planet.

Charitable giving is on the rise, according to a November study from World Vision that found that 86% of Americans are likely to give money to charity this holiday season.   "Aspirational Shopping" is also a growing trend.   The 2013 Aspirational Consumer Index, which draws from a telephone and in-person survey of 21,492 consumers across 21 international markets, has calculated that today more than one-third of consumers globally (36.4%) identify as Aspirationals, defined by their love of shopping (78%), desire for responsible consumption (92%) and their trust in brands to act in the best interest of society (58%).

Fortunately for philanthropic and aspirational shoppers, there is a plethora of gift giving options from companies dedicated to creating "social good" by managing natural resources well, empowering people to rise out of poverty, and/or giving a substantial percentage of their sales proceeds to good causes.  Products range from gift wrappers that help displaced orphans to handmade bath products that support women who have survived a life of trafficking.

The holidays are a great time to experience the joy in giving to friends and family while helping to make a better world.  Shopping with your conscience is a gift to yourself, to your loved ones, and to the planet.
